Star 2000 Range UPS Special Conditions
The Star 2000 UPS has been designed for reliable operation, automatically guaranteeing equipment the maximum protection. However, particular operating circumstances may arise that the user must be aware of so that the Star 2000 UPS can offer the highest levels of performance at all times.

Overload
The overload condition occurs when the load applied requires more power than that for which the Star 2000 UPS has been designed. This situation is indicated by the Overload LED (red) lighting and by a beep sounds periodically. If this condition persists or if the overload exceeds the maximum allowable limit, the inverter protection is triggered and the Star 2000 UPS output is switched to the by-pass.

Normal operation, i.e. with inverter power, is resumed 40 seconds after the overload has been removed. The mains-inverter switching occurs only if the supply line and inverter are in sync, and the supply voltage is within the range defined.

Supply Out of Range
The Star 2000 UPS is designed to operate with a wide input voltage range. Accordingly, fewer battery interventions are required and the Star 2000 UPS has greater endurance to cope with a real supply line failure.

When the size and the frequency of the supply voltage are not inside the specified requirements, the Star 2000 UPS ensures that the load is powered by taking energy from the batteries until their charge is exhausted.  The Star 2000 UPS indicates this situation by switching off the "Mains present" LED and switching on the "Battery operation" LED.

Overheating
If the internal temperature exceeds the allowable limits, the Star 2000 UPS is stopped by a thermal cutout protection. This situation is signalled by the "Failure" LED blinking constantly.

Batteries Not Working / Battery-Charger Failure
The DSP microprocessor performs a thorough check of the batteries and operation of the battery-charger.

If the test is failed, the "Battery charge" LED bar, and the "Battery Operation" LED start blinking.

In this situation, the load is automatically transferred to the By-pass, the red LED "UPS failure" will  light and the buzzer will sound periodically to signal the problem. The Star 2000 UPS goes into this condition when:

  • There is a repeated overload or a short-circuit
  • Internal temperature is high
  • An internal failure occurs
